Sunday November 6th: “Good News” Spotlight

News that the Bermuda Cricket Team defeated Jersey and Denmark, college nursing graduates Josephine Bean and Dashunté Furbert earned Registered Nurse designations, the ‘Oyster Bermuda Regatta’ will be held in 2018, and swimmer Julian Fletcher set three new records at the FINA World Cup were all some of the positive news stories from the past week.

Other good news stories included the Carnival Vista cruise ship making its inaugural visit to Bermuda, Jessica Lewis winning her division at the Niagara Falls Half Marathon in Canada, the S.T.E.M. programme at Sandys Middle School getting hands on lessons from SoftBank Team Japan, and American Airlines getting set to offer Philadelphia to Bermuda flights year round.

In additional good news, actor Earl Cameron was inducted into the UK’s first black film and television Hall of Fame, Kidd Clazzic will perform in Trinidad & Tobago, Leilanni Nesbeth scored in a ISFA U16 Girls win, and technician Peter Winsby completed the Ford Motor Company’s STARS training programme.

Other positive news included the Zoological Society receiving its new 30′ Beachcat boat ‘Callista’, the Bermuda Community Foundation awarding $480,000 in grants, Twanée Butterfield releasing her new song “Like Me”, Warwick Academy raising funds for Haiti, and the Robin Hood Football Club supporting the Bermuda Cancer & Health Centre during ‘Movember’.
