Court: 52-Year-Old Admits Using Offensive Words

January 5, 2016

Appearing in Magistrates Court this morning [Jan 5], 52-year-old Jean Paul Rouget plead guilty to using offensive words to a Traffic Warden on 27th November last year.

The Crown Prosecutor told Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo that the Traffic Warden had seen Mr Rouget parking a cycle on a double yellow line and had advised him not to. When she spoke to Mr Rouget he replied: “You f—ing ass. You f—king bitch.”

When the Warden issued a ticket, he swore at her again and the Warden called police. When police arrived, Mr Rouget rode off, but was arrested later in Pembroke.

Speaking for himself, Mr Rouget apologized for his actions, telling the Magistrate that he was a cycle mechanic and that the double yellow line was at the entrance to his workplace. He said that he frequently had to temporarily park cycles on the double yellow so that he could move cycles in and out of the workplace.

The Magistrate fined him $300 for the offence.
