60 Artists To Take Part In Plein Air Festival
Sixty local and international artists are getting set to participate in the Bermuda Plein Air Festival, being held from October 26 until November 2.
A spokesperson said, “If you see 60 artists about the island during the upcoming week, don’t be alarmed; the Bermuda Plein Air Festival is about to start.
“This is the third bi-annual Plein Air Festival that Bermuda is hosting and organisers are pleased with the results of registration. There are 23 overseas artists which are arriving to attend the week long festival of events, along with regulars of the weekly Bermuda Plein Air Group.”
“Every day, the artists will paint at a different location, which covers one end of the island to the other. Each session is from 10am – 3pm and at that point, at least 80% of each painting should be complete. This year the Plein Air Festival has incorporated everything from beautiful pink beaches to historical back of town alleys.
“The Festival ends with a Grand Exhibition featuring 300 pieces of art, all of which are for sale.There is $15,000 in prizes for winners best in each category.All are invited to this amazing show, which will capture Bermuda scenes in all media.
“The Exhibition at Bermuda Society of Arts at City Hall opens on Saturday November 2 from 4:30 – 7:30 pm and the show is for one night only.
“The Plein Air Painters will be at the following locations:
- October 27 – Fort Scaur/ Ely’s Harbour
- October 28 – Bailey’s Bay
- October 29 – Town of St. Georges
- October 30 – North City of Hamilton
- October 31 – Warwick Long Bay
- November 1 – Cambridge Beaches
