Video: Sunday Sept 29th “Good News” Spotlight

News that Yazik Govia, Nikia Matthews, Shei-Anne Ottley-Peets, Maya Proverbs, and Deontae Scott were awarded Athene Scholarships, Jasmine Spence scored a hat trick for Newport Pagnell Town, and Ryley Tannock was called to the Bermuda Bar were all some of the positive news stories from the past week.

In additional good news, Kayuri Tucker and Zydon Lightbourne-Furbert reflected on their hard work at the CFU Under-14 Challenge Series, Bermuda Cricket Board announced the Athene T20 Senior Men’s Premier and First Division League weekly award winners, Bailey’s Bay and St. David’s were named T20 champions, Allan and Sarah Frith won the Kacy Simons Memorial Comet Regatta, and Christian Ebbin made his Tulane University debut as the school hosted the Allstate Sugar Bowl Open.

Other good news stories included the Bermuda hockey team advanced to the bronze-medal match after defeating Brazil at the Women’s Pan American Challenge, Bermuda players – Cody Robinson, Isaiah Francis, Tre Burgess, and Joshua Joseph – helped Thomas College to a huge 6 – 1 win over Husson University, Bermuda’s National Robotics Team – Sage DeSousa, Ava Simons, Aleshka Urrutia, Max Kemp and Ryan Williams — competed at the First Global Robotics Olympics in Greece, and Marleigh Howes helped Bolles School win Invitational.

Further good news included Zonique James, Kievone Simmons, Denika Wade, and Nekesha Holdipp attended a teacher training opportunity in Virginia, KBB and EY continuing their partnership to host the Island-Wide Coastal Clean-Up, Ignite concluded its fourth Young Adult Entrepreneurial Internship programme, Bermuda’s iconic style featured in Vogue, and Steven Rees Davies recognized by Who’s Who Legal.
