He continued, “This is an unprecedented event as we have never had a bus damaged en route to Bermuda. This bus will be repaired by the manufacturer in Bermuda.

“An incident report is being prepared by the Port Authority police in New York with the assistance of our shippers. I expect to receive a formal report in a few days as Police conclude their investigation and we will subsequently claim insurance cover.”

  1. Concerned says:

Does this the Union go on strike and fares will go up

    • Kunta says:

Cant blame none of de Bermy drivers for this one, after hearing on de news that they have to pay out of their own pockets for accidents.
They better make sure before they drive this one its a liability, and make a check list of previous damage so they wont pay for it.
AHH did they take a breathalyzer on de driver.
      LMFAO

  3. Haha says:

OBA can’t get nothing Right!!!! this never happened under the PLP, all Shawn Crockwell fault. Guess he had to take a trip to see what it look like.

    • Sooooo says:

Hmmm. remeids me of some ferry parts!!

    • enough says:

      what an idiot

      • Coffee says:

Typical response from a dedicated OBA shill . HaHa points out a trend with the OBA . So where is Shawn Crockwell ? He needs to do some explaining ! That’s a $350,00.00 piece of equipment . Thanks Mr.Simmon for your explanation , but it’s the minister we need to hear from ! Lousy OBA government can’t get anything from the ministers except Fayhe when he speaks against the Born Bermudian people … Tired of their crap !

    • LeRocher says:

lol…lol… ppl this comment made my day, Bdian’s so funny, everything is the fault of someone in a Political Pty…. How the he@$ did this get to be a fault of the OBA or anyone in Bermuda. Govt should sue the shipping agents and also get 2 buses FREE.

      • Kunta says:

Ya well they did de same thing when P.L.P was in power so now it’s their turn, bunch of hopeless hasbeens.
        LMFAO

      • Raymond Ray says:

It’s so true all what you have written LeRocher but, as far as getting 2 buses for free…Well, “that’s a horse of a different colour” :-)

    • Dis island mang says:

I wonder…was an OBA supporter the one driving the bus? Believe it or not, this is how all buses under OBA AND PLP have been transported. Accidents happen.

  4. Mr. Meoff says:

Bad day for Bda buses, another catches fire in Bermy.

  5. daimler chrysler says:

looks like it’s bent in the picture!

  6. Raw Onion says:

These buses are an easy fix, if the parts are readily available. The manufacturer can drop a whole new front on the frame in no time providing the DPT workers don’t get in the way.

    • LeRocher says:

Are you kidding??? It’s a brand new bus. How would you like to know that you brought a car, paid full price and found out that it had been damaged during shipping. No bandaid fixes here mate!!

      • JohnBoy says:

        bought

      • Raw Onion says:

I guess you’ve never worked at DPT…..again, the whole front can be taken off and replaced with a new front put on. Any hidden parts can also be quickly repaired…the buses are designed to be repaired quickly if the parts are there. Dan Simmons has already said the bus will be shipped to Bermuda AND repaired by the manufacturer.

  7. We Are Not Amused! says:

    I blame de plp

    • Kunta says:

I was waiting for this comment, LMFAO
O.B.A./ubp are a bunch of JOKERS, a Premier had to resign, broken promises, no accountability, T.B.A. secrecy of funding (Dodwell and de gang), secret taping, changing de license plates on de G.P. cars to do a PACK, a Premier caught on tape saying “he don’t give a F!@# about de peoples concern, $350.000 with no trace, OOOHHH de infamous JET GATE, conjuring up a Law to suspend previous contracts (Harbor Front)for friends and family, on top of that, trying to eradicate de BENEFITS our for Fathers fought and died for, just to name a few in under two years !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
      EMBARASSING and PATHETIC.

  8. Keepin' it Real!...4Real! says:

my question is …How long will this bus be out of commission sir..?

  9. Bermuda says:

hmm..Looks like this bus is in need a a front bumper!

  10. Catalyst says:

The bus was insured. Get it fixed.

  11. oh MAN why middle man says:

Why they have to come through the US? they are left hand drive.

  12. Islander says:

We don’t have any ships coming directly from anywhere else.

  13. AD says:

Why is it coming here to be fixed? Thats where mess-ups are sure to happen (Sorry) but I think a lot of us can agree. Send us a NEW bus free from any damages, we don’t need any more issues to try and handle

  14. RealTalk says:

They need to bring in foreigners to repair the bus? Why can’t a Bermudian worker do it? I bet they didn’t even check to see if any Bermudian workers could do it. Typical of this government.

    • Typhoon says:

The manufacturer is responsible for the repair/replacement to bring it back to factory condition not the Bda Govt. or the garage staff at the bus depot.

    • Raw Onion says:

Ugh….if you purchase a $270,000 vehicle and its is damaged in transit and before the buyer has claimed it, then it is the insurance company of the shipper who decides who fixes the vehicle. In this case, because of the value of the vehicle, the manufacturer has been chosen as they will likely fix the bus expeditiously and they chose to fix it here in Bermuda since this is the final destination and also closer than that of shipping it back to Portugal.

Remember when a brand new airport fire truck was rolled over? The manufacturer flew in to assess the damage. They are the experts.

I hope this helps you understand why locals were not chosen.

  15. Truth is killin' me... says:

I would have sent it back right then and there and requested a new bus even if there was going to be a further delay. “Fixed” vehicles never run the same as new.
