News that Flora Duffy won the Ironman 70.3 South Africa, Clarien Bank donated $15,000 to Meals on Wheels, the Bermuda chapter of ‘Girls in Tech’ launched, Bermudian teenager Sweden Bashir was featured in a Polo Ralph Lauren campaign, and Nahki Wells was signed by Bristol City were all some of the positive news stories from the past week.
In additional good news, Osagi Bascome and his Darlington FC teammate Omar Holness visited St Joseph’s Primary School in the United Kingdom, Dage Minors won the 1000 meters event at the John Thomas Terrier Classic, Nathan Armstrong won the 800 meters event at the Lou Molino Invitational, and Bermuda riders exceled in the FEI World Dressage Challenge.
Other good news stories included the National Museum of Bermuda offering free entry for locals in February, a ‘roof wetting’ being held for new beehives at the Bacardi building, the Bermuda Volleyball Association and BGA Wholesale Distributors donated $2,000 to Bermuda Cancer & Health following the SolRX Beach Tournament, and a jet suit race is set to be held in Bermuda in March.
In further good news, the Comet Class Yacht Racing Association of Bermuda held its annual prize giving, Shiona Turini attended the Costume Designers Guild Awards in California, and a Wakefield-based nutrition company will be sponsoring Wakefield AFC goalkeeper Quinaceo Hunt.
