News that Debi Ray-Rivers was awarded the Roman Catholic Church’s Peace and Social Justice award, Bermuda earned a 4-2 win over Barbados in the Concacaf Road to W Gold Cup series, Andreaz Glasgow was awarded the Young Caribbean Professional Network’s Scholarship, and Fortitude Reinsurance has donated $100,000 to the Bermuda Education Network were all some of the positive news stories from the past week.
In additional good news, Bermudian goalkeeper Nathan Trott was named Man of the Match, Jaydon Goddard made an outstanding showing at the 2023 Amateur Olympia, Jacob Madeiros scored a hat trick in a 3-0 victory over KOSA United, Bermuda archers won classes in Lancaster, Jamin Hodgkins made the Canada 32-man squad, and Daniel Phillips advanced at the Southwest Championships.
Other good news stories included Mia Fishel opening the scoring for her team as the United States defeated Colombia 3-0, Andre Lambe overcoming the toughest test of his professional boxing career after defeating Sergio García Herrera via a majority decision, Karim Chowdhury being named among the Top 50 Influential Muslims in Europe by EqualityX, and Lieutenant Colonel Ben Beasley being awarded the Fellow grade by the Institute of Leadership.
