News that Brittany Darko has been honoured as Nurse of the Year, Appleby partnered with Skyport in the planting of 100 endemic cedar trees at the airport, Jacob Madeiros helped May River Sharks reach the semi-finals of the Lower State Championship in Charleston, South Carolina and the Department of Child & Family Services hosted its annual appreciation tea, celebrating Bermuda’s foster parents on Sunday [May 5] were all some of the positive news stories from the past week.
In additional good news the Bermuda Football Association recognised the standout players, coaches, and teams across various categories for the season, Jasmine Spence enjoyed a prolific season in front of goal for Newport Pagnell Town Women after scoring ten goals in 17 league matches, CG earns Ball Hockey Winter League title, Christian Ebbin and his St. George’s School sailing teammates won the NESSA Team Racing Championship Presidents trophy in the USA and the Department of Culture celebrated six artists’ achievements during the 2024 Bermuda Arts Council Awards.
