News that Yan-Xia Rogers was called to the Bermuda Bar, Graham Mawer and Hannah Leigh earned the PSEA Award, AXA XL appointed Michelle Bailey, and 16-year-old Berkeley students Joaquin O’Connor and Dae’Jon Smith are taking part in the BFRS Youth Summer Programme were all some of the positive news stories from the past week.

In additional good news, Athletes from OpenMat Bermuda returned home with 13 medals from the BJJ GI and No Gi Round-Robin Tournament in Boston, Scott Barnes has been honoured as one of three all-star drivers in the Masters division by eKartingNews, sailor Rachael Betchart claimed the Waszp Grand Final title at the recent SailGP Inspire Champion of Champions in San Francisco, Somerset Lady Trojans won the BFA Women’s League Championship title for the 2023/24 season, Bermuda’s women’s national football team defeated Belize in a friendly match, and Shara Trott and Rickai Burrows have “successfully completed the Graduate Talent Programme and will transition to full-time positions.”

Other good news stories included ABIR hosting two summer interns, with Malakye Outerbridge and Cree Dunn assisting ABIR’s Policy and Regulatory team, AirCare congratulating apprentices Bradley Adams, Damen Mallory, and James Paynter for graduating from Bermuda College, Samiyah Hall earning second place in Indiana, and Global Atlantic will provide $125,000 in small business accelerator grants to winning entrepreneurs in the Wave of Opportunity Pitch Competition, with applications now open.
