Sunday July 26th: “Good News” Spotlight

July 26, 2015

News that BFIS and ABIC handed out over $900,000 in scholarships, the first therapeutic plasma exchange in Bermuda took place, and Saltus Grammar School students are celebrating near-perfect exam scores were all some of the positive news stories from the past week.

In other good news stories, a contingent of Bermuda Scouts will be attending the World Scout Jamboree in Japan, Jean Howes and Abuwi Rasool were presented with certificates of appreciation by Beacon Club, and a group of local students is preparing to travel to Singapore for the World School Debate Championship 2015.

On a sporting note, Nahki Wells scored twice for Huddersfield, Bermuda’s gymnasts won Island Games medals, the Pacers track club won five more medals in Pennsylvania, and Flora Duffy claimed first place in the Xterra Beaver Creek Mountain Championships in Colorado.

We also posted various community photo galleries, including coverage of Somerset’s win in the annual Mini Cup Match, a pair of super-yachts and the sailing ship Tiare Taporo paying a visit to St. George’s, the Spikefest Volleyball Tournament, the opening of Digicel’s new store on Church Street, and the Wheelie Wars stunt competition.
