Video: Sunday August 29th ‘Good News’ Spotlight
News that Jessica Lewis represented Bermuda at the Paralympic Games, McKenzie Bean won his NPC Bodybuilding class, the Bermuda Zoological Society awarded the Steinhoff Scholarship to Caroline Alexander, Isabella Murdoch, and Treiana Zuill, while Freyja Kermode was the recipient of the Pye award, and Ajani Burchall scored a hat trick for the Aston Villa Under 18 team were all some of the positive news stories from the past week.
In additional good news, Nia Christopher scored twice for the Towson University women’s soccer team as they played to a 3-0 victory, Kiwon Waldron won at the Midwestern Classic in Ohio, Tamara Symons, Regina Dill, Olievia Martins, Luz Soto-Lambert, and Theresa Santucci all received the Iris Davis Educational Scholarship Award, and MJM announced that Seon Tatem is the winner of their 2021 Legal Scholarship, valued at $10,000.
Other good news stories included the Southampton Parish Council offering scholarships, The Future Leaders Programme holding its closing ceremony, with 13 students being officially inducted as this year’s ‘Future Leaders’, Jade Richardson pursuing a medical career, Ki-Juan Minors winning the USHJA in Florida, Hamilton Princess donating $40,000 to Knowledge Quest, the Education Ministry scholarship recipients, Essence featuring Bermuda in its Travel Guide, and the Department of Workforce Development scholarship recipients.
We also posted various community photo galleries, including coverage of the Bermuda Cycling Academy Race, the Rugby 7’s Open Invitational Finals, Premier and First Division Cricket action, and Bermudian triathletes competing in Canada.
