Video: Sunday Oct 28th ‘Good News’ Spotlight
News that Nahki Wells scored his first goal for Queen’s Park Rangers, 200 golfers are attending events on the island this month, Donna Raynor, Erika Russell, John Barry Nusum, and Stephen Lee were inducted into the Berkeley Institute Sports Hall of Fame, and Digicel donated equipment to the island’s football clubs were all some of the positive news stories from the past week.
In additional good news, author Neletha Butterfield was honoured at the Cultural Women’s Retreat in Detroit, Reggie Lambe scored for Cambridge United in their 2-0 victory over Swindon Town, the U.S. Consulate participated in a cleanup initiative, Saltus raised $4,000 for the Red Cross tsunami appeal, and Argo continued its support of the Sloop Foundation.
Other good news stories included Zenawi Bowen scoring in a Thomas College victory, Aaliyah Nolan scoring in a North Texas victory, Jonte Smith scoring in a victory over Whitehawk, and the Bermuda Cricket Board hosting an award ceremony to celebrate outstanding players, coaches, officials, and others involved in local cricket.
In more good news, Janet Percy’s art show ‘Reef Roamers’ at the Bermuda Society of Arts features marine-themed paper mache art, Ian Davidson received the Bermuda Festival Award of Merit for his contribution to performing arts in Bermuda, Whitney Institute Middle School held a ‘Girls Night In’ event, and Dellwood Middle School celebrated student excellence with a prize giving.
We also posted various community photo galleries, including coverage of the Southside Team Tokio Criterium, a Zumbathon fundraiser, the US Consulate participating in a clean up, the International Day of the Girl, the Bermuda International Gig Regatta, Bermuda Karting Club racing action, Gold Point Archery action, the Wadson’s Farm Pumpkin Picking event, Viking Star making its inaugural call, and the Bermuda International Dog Show.
